Nuestra mente es porosa para el olvido

This series is named after the final paragraph, of Jorge Luís Borges’ story, the Aleph. It is formed by 23 only photographs which, in texts, include the memory of the action which remains hidden by blood and characters like blue splashes.

“Nuestra mente es porosa para el olvido” follows the theme started in “In memoriam”, therefore it attempts to go back to the lost childhood; but it is an outside memory more than a personal one. The images, despite being personal, could be said to be distant or even esoteric, to me. In this coming back to the past I can only state what others remember from my childhood. The atmosphere and attitudes of the characters are subdued, together with the passage of time, at s difficult-to- discern crossroads.

“Nuestra mente es porosa para el olvido”, is then, an exercise of deep thought of the past and the value of daily memories. We grow and every year we forget hundreds of hours lived, from some of these lost seconds we keep a photographic image as a witness of who we have been. But, what does it happens when we forget what we see in the image? The photograph loses its value as a witness to end up as an image that cannot transfer us its content An image which is just as false as our memories.
